Kioxia announced yesterday that it will launch a new generation of PCIe 5.0 data center-class solid-state drives CD9P based on the eighth-generation BiCS 3D TLC NAND flash memory. This series of products is designed for GPU-accelerated AI servers with high throughput, low latency, and high consistency.

CD9P is divided into two branches according to write endurance: 1DWPD read-intensive and 3DWPD mixed-load; in terms of form factor, it provides 2.5-inch 15mm thick U.2 and EDSFF E3.S versions. The former has a capacity of up to 61.44TB and the latter can reach 30.72TB.
According to official data from Kioxia, the performance indicators of the CD9P series are significantly improved compared to the 3DWPD variant CD8P-V of the CD8P that also supports PCIe 5.0:
| CD9P | CD8P-V | |
| Maximum sequential read | 14.8GB/S | 12GB/S |
| Maximum sequential write | 7GB/S | 5.5GB/S |
| Maximum Random Read | 2600K IOPS | 2000K IOPS |
| Maximum Random write | 750K IOPS | 400K IOPS |
And on the 15.36TB model of CD9P, it has achieved significant energy efficiency improvements over the previous generation of products, with sequential reads, sequential writes, random reads, and random writes per watt increased by 60%, 45%, 55%, and 100% respectively.
